Workshop Brothers CBD
From the street, Workshop Brothers is a welcome pop of green among the inner-city high rises. After opening Workshop Specialty Coffee in Glen Huntly, Joe La and brothers Brian and Nolan Taing found this spot on Queen Street needing some love.
With mottos displayed on the walls and branding such as “love in the cup” and “pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work”, visitors are reminded that a passion for coffee and a friendly atmosphere are the heart of what makes this cafe tick.
The menu features a custom fruit-driven blend from Axil Coffee Roasters with African, and Central and South American components. Single-origins (including a 90-plus batch brew) are sourced from Monk Bodhi Dharma. Workshop Brothers also bottles up iced coffee with the help of juice company Ayomo, and pastries from Noisette line the glass cabinets.
Award-winning designer Hana Hakim (of The Stella Collective turned the petite space into a light and bright city go-to. Art Deco-inspired brass fixtures and custom timber handles on the espresso machine are standout features. Most customers grab a quick coffee or sweet treat before heading back to the office, but communal tables and outdoor seating are there if you want to stay awhile.
