Whisky and Alement
Features
Back when it was Chez Regine, owners Brooke Hayman and Julian White had little idea as to what really defined their bar. Good cocktails, a solid back-bar selection and some tasty beers (at unbelievably low prices) were all they had to go on.
Slowly, the bar evolved to have a strong Scottish whisky focus and the transformation of the list and the knowledge of the owners and staff proved genuine and profound.
Whisky and Alement is now is a whisky bar that rivals the best in the world in terms of both its offering and its atmosphere. All the bartenders in this World Class drinking venue possess the knowledge to lead you on a journey of discovery. The lightest of honeyed highlands are contrasted with some of the heaviest and highly peated whiskies in the world. With the assistance of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, the bar has access to a broad range of rare and hard-to-come-by whisky, which also includes a secret batch in their rotating barrel directly from the society.
The real drawcard is their educational sessions, providing a monthly tasting session that attracts international ambassadors and top distillers.
They’ve also procured a takeaway licence for the specific purpose of selling single malt whisky. The selection for takeaway is presented in a striking glass case holding both usual suspects and bottles that you’ll only ever find here.
