The Cottesloe Beach Hotel

It’s hard to believe the Cottesloe Beach Hotel, or “The Cott” as it’s most commonly known, was once the place for rowdy Sunday sessions. Now all grown up, the beachside beer garden draws a crowd both young and old, looking to lounge in the ultra-cool surroundings.

The open-air space – think Miami meets the Hamptons, with a touch of St Tropez – celebrates Perth’s never-ending summers. Serviced by three bars, the no-bookings beach club – a mash up of white, greys and yellow – is made for mingling and drinking Aperol Spritzes.

Rotating taps pour everything from Melbourne Bitter to local brewery Feral’s craft creations. The wine list is concise, with drops from Sandalford, owners Peter and Debra Prendiville’s winery, featuring heavily. Unfortunately a noise curfew means music is minimal and service stops at 10pm. Those after a late night can continue in the building’s front bar.

The menu is all encompassing. From freshly shucked oysters to Balinese-style grilled fish and coconut; to dry-aged rib eyes and rotisserie meats, there’s something for everyone. A custom built Zesti-oven even spins pizzas by itself.

Be warned, The Cott does get busy. Thankfully a lounge area provides respite and open fireplaces keep you warm all year round. Not that you’ll need them often.
