Surly's

Surly’s, a dingy dive bar on Campbell Street, has all the trappings of a down-home Southern American tavern. Downstairs is a fairy-lit bar with Coors and Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap. Upstairs is Smokey's Cabin where you’ll find a shuffleboard table, a stage for live music and stand-up arcade games. Sports fans can bask in Surly’s mammoth screens, splashed with on-demand events.

But the real speciality here is Southern-style barbeque. Think hearty plates of beef brisket, chicken thigh and pulled pork; smoked over apple and hickory woods. Pork, brisket and Texas-style hotlinks are all sold by weight, just like they do in the South.

Alongside North American draught beers, there's also a decent cocktail list where the Old Fashioned and Bloody Mary back up the house creations. Aussie and French wines, Surly’s shots and imported American sodas round out the selection.

Originally part of the Parlour Group, Surly’s is now the fourth venue owned by the Darlin’ Group, which includes The Stoned Crow, Crows Nest; The Village Crown, Zetland; and the Village, Narrellan.
