Ruinbar
Ruinbar, located in a heritage building, is a 300-person spot devoted to beer. Owner Miles Hull is an industry veteran, having once been the opening hospitality manager of Little Creatures.
There are three dedicated “beer rooms”, plus a roomy courtyard. The space’s no-frills look is inspired by the “ruin bars” of Budapest and Eastern Europe, which typically reside in abandoned buildings. But past that, Ruinbar is all about Australia.
A third of the bar’s 18 taps are reserved for WA-made house beers, with steadily rotating Australian beers making up most of the remaining taps – both independent and mainstream. Two cocktails – an Aperol spritz and a Paloma – occupy two more taps, and a cider is also be poured. Inclusivity is the name of the game. Packaged beers, including familiar big-name brews ,are also featured, alongside a thoughtful edit of wines, cocktails, and spirits.
On weekends, a food truck sets in the courtyard to feed the masses. Otherwise, guests can get food delivered or snack on chips and nuts from across the bar.
