The Rochey
Formally known as The Rochester Hotel, The Rochey has stood the test of time. It’s been a local haunt for live music and pints since the ’70s – but while it’s been re-invented many times, it’s never quite shaken its party pub reputation.
After a recent glow-up, it's returned with a lick of new paint and an upmarket pub-grub menu. But don’t worry – DJs still rule the weekend.
For snacking between games of pool, there’s fried squid with capers and chimichurri; a beef scotch egg with wasabi mayo; and focaccia, served with dukkha. For a sit-down meal, it might be lamb shanks or buttermilk-brined chicken parma. Vegetarians need not have parma envy – there’s an eggplant version for good measure.
As ever, punters can perch in the front bar on a high table looking out to the street. Walk in further to find the dining room and beer garden. The D-floor remains upstairs, where you’ll find a rotation of homegrown and international DJs.
