Kazba
Right next door to Za Za Ta restaurant at Ovolo the Valley is Kazba, a moody cocktail bar inspired by Tel Aviv’s bar scene and vibrant nighttime culture.
Step inside and you’ll notice every free flat surface seems to be populated by candles. There’s a stately library area, and a DJ booth at the very front near the door that’s responsible for the soundtrack of Afrobeat, funk, soul and disco.
Signature seasonal drinks include the Forbidden Fruit, which stirs Sipsmith London dry gin with rosemary lillet blanc, suze and blood-orange bitters, and is finished with a rosemary smoke bubble; and a Turkish Coffee Martini mixed with house-spiced rum, caramelised yoghurt, Turkish coffee, cardamom and chocolate bitters.
If you're in (small) group, go for a shared cocktail like The Sun Also Rises, with Pampero Blanco white rum mixed with Fair kumquat liqueur, clarified grapefruit juice, citric acid and hopped grapefruit bitters.
There’s also a neat Fizzy Bubbly menu, which combines Tel Aviv’s century-old soda obsession with Australian’s similar fondness for flavoured cordial.
For food, the menu of vegetarian mezze might include fried sesame falafel with tahini and amba pickles, chilli haloumi savoury doughnuts, and spiced Beyond Meat koftas served with truffled pecorino.
