Step off the iconic boardwalk at Main Beach right into Bistro C, an absolute beachfront restaurant rocking enviable views of Laguna Bay through its huge glass doors – which are usually flung open to invite in the sea breeze.

The cuisine-crossing menu is driven by local produce, with highlights including a signature spaghetti, served in a cast iron pan brimming with seafood, basil, garlic, olive oil, tomato and saffron aioli. On top of some obvious Mediterranean influences, there are also plenty of nods to east Asia. Given how enduringly popular this place is, it’s a combination that’s been working wonders since 1994.

Cocktail drinkers can choose between zingy spritzes, Margaritas and suitably beachy house creations. An extensive wine list is split into sections such as “fragrant and aromatic” and “rich and bold” to help you find the perfect drop – but the staff can certainly point you in the right direction, too.

The striped linen cushions, monochrome art and rattan pendant lights make for a quintessential Noosa dining room. The timber deck, with its shady umbrellas and evening fairy lights, is easily one of our favourite al fresco spots on Hastings Street.
